Great Compassionate God, we come to you in a time of great sorrow. We lift up the family of the shooter, Aaron Alexis. We cannot begin to know the sense of loss, shame, and guilt they must be feeling right now. Please hold them in your heart. God, also be with all those who suffer from mental illness. Help us as a society to support them in the ways that they need to be supported. God, we also raise up the families of the 12 people killed. Be present with them and help them as they say good-bye to their loved ones. Heal their heartbreak. Lastly God we lift up the eight people wounded yesterday. Heal their broken bodies, but also comfort their spirits. Help them to live the abundant life that you intend for them. We ask all these things in your Triune Name. Amen.
