Great MOOC. (Free online course from McGill University) Before you post another meme stating that milk/sugar/aspartame/gluten is toxic and why Kale/chocolate/blueberrie will save you from cancer/heart attack/Alzheimer heres an opportunity to learn the facts. It is entertaining, discusses nutrition as a cultural (world nutrition) as well as an individual level, explains what food research is and isnt (the above memes for the latter), and lots more. Ive followed the first week and it is highly entertaining and really eye opening. It is not dull, the math is so far nothing like that in the Harvard Science course. You have a week to get through two lecture series (you can download of the transcripts and read through them quickly), and the homework appears fairly light. (Current revelations: Pom overstates its benefits, Popeye never said anything about iron in spinach, and most of the stuff you read about foods values on Facebook is totally wrong. There are about 1.7 hundred thousand scientific journals in which legitimate studies are published, and a few scientists lie. Money is indeed the oil on which research turns. How the money is acquired. How to get published in a scientific journal. How scientific (nutritional here) studies are done and how they are subsequently misrepresented in the press.
