Great News: We (Concerned Black People) saved Dunbar Hospital today. Dunbar Hospital is off the auction blocks. Thank you to the Detroit Medical Society, numbers of Black Doctors, its leadership, other African American professionals and supporters in Detroit and the metropolitan area. Be careful everyone what you read from the mainstream media. A lot of mis-information is being written and floated around in the community. Dr. Aaron Maddox (President) and Dr. Lonnie Joe of the Detroit Medical Society (DMS) have everything under control. African American property holders downtown beware of the land grab. #1 The Detroit Medical Society cut its water off years ago, but was sent an erroneous bill from the Detroit Water Department. #2 Also once the DMS found out about the foreclosure notice because of the Water Bill they wrote a certified check, which was originally denied by the Wayne County Treasurers office. #3 Worst come to worst, the (DMS) is a non-profit IRS tax-exempt organization, which doesnt pay taxes. #4 Lastly, the organization has hundreds on thousands in the bank account and plan to turn the Dunbar Hospital into a museum. These Black doctors can write a $100,000.00 check out their personal bank accounts #FACT. Its time for an African American Summit in Detroit. I personally believe a developer wanted that property for the low low by any means necessary. Its sad whats going on in Detroit with the land right now and the water shut-offs based on this incident alone. We cannot be quite about this at-all. My Great-Uncle Dr. Dewitt T. Burton, MD practiced at Dunbar Hospital before founding Burton/Mercy Hospital years later in the early 1900s. I have a personal stake with anyone trying to steal historic African American-owned monuments and land.
