Great. St Louis Co/Ferguson is on the brink of a 1960s-style race riot/war. A white police officer shot and killed an UNARMED 18-year-old black man who MAY have shoplifted a package of cigarettes in a busy black neighborhood with lots of witnesses with cellphones equipped with video. The neighborhood leaders got really angry at the persistent poverty putting them in the position of having to do illegal things JUST to survive and how the police are not helping the situation. The police department consistently has a reputation of racial profiling, and has been under investigation for pretty much of the past 2 decades I know of. Weve also had more than a few high profile cases where the police seem to be using excessive force with black suspects. And in this case, apparently the dead teenagers bodywas left in the middle of the road for an extended period of time b/c the cops would not allow ambulance/paramedics to touch him until they had the whole situation under control. No telling whether he may have even survived, had they allowed paramedics to even assess him. At this point, FIFTEEN municipal police districts are involved trying to control the crowd. This has been brewing for a while. Its WHY Im living so far away from the City. The cops here are Stazi enough for this old hippie white chick to deal with. Waaay to many liberal-hating cops in St Louis Co for my emotional well-being.
