Great article! I was having a chat to 2 older women last night and they were sharing their Breastfeeding experiences. One woman absolutely loved Breastfeeding and did until her baby was 2 years of age. She also told me her Breastfeeding was hassle free from the beginning (she is in the minority). The other woman detested Breastfeeding- she tried with her 1st babe till 6 weeks and then gave up- she had cracked, bleeding nipples, described her son as a vampire when he latched. She said that she faced this, every feed for 6 weeks. When she weaned to formula, she said it was the best thing she did. She was no longer resenting her baby for hurting her, she was able yo finally enjoy him. I totally agree with this article, Breastfeeding is best for baby, but if its not right for mum, and it is affecting her psyche and relationship with her baby, its obviously not the best option for mum. It sounds as though this mum in the article and the mum who detested Breastfeeding, did not get good Breastfeeding support. It also seems that her breast milk supply was low due to the retained placenta. What are your thoughts on this? I would love to know!
