Great article from Monmoushire Beacon Chepstow Round Table help Caldicot Food Bank Wednesday, 11 September 2013 When Caldicot Food Bank needed help with the funding for computer equipment to support their operations they turned to Chepstow Round Table for help. Last Friday Steve Comins, Community Service Officer of the Chepstow Round Table, presented their Treasurer Alan Parker with a cheque to buy what they needed. The Food Bank operates from Caldicot Town Council offices and is manned entirely by local volunteers under the umbrella of The Raven House Trust supported by Caldicot Churches Together. Their aim is to support families or individuals facing temporary difficulties, who have been referred to them by professional agencies in the town until the official support services take over. One of the volunteers said, “It is quite a humbling experience when people leave a trolley full of food stuffs for you, or even a few tins on one of our collection days and tell you that there were times in their lives when they didn’t know where the next meal was coming from so they are glad they can help out”. The Round Table is an organisation of men aged between 18 and 45 who meet each month for fun and social events and to raise funds for the deserving in their local communities.
