Great column in todays Hour by Dave McCarthy, the Common Councils - TopicsExpress

Great column in todays Hour by Dave McCarthy, the Common Councils DPW committee chair, on the Rowayton Ave. road project. Also, a good story on the project appeared in Nancy on Norwalk. For anyone interested in the facts regarding this issue, those stories are first rate. In a nutshell: The project cant lead to more truck traffic because of the height of the bridge, nor will it cause additional speeding; the city will be adding more sidewalks; the state has done all the necessary historical reviews; the road is being changed minimally. I could go on, but the real question is, Why the over-the-top, vehement opposition to a project that has been discussed since the 1990s, approved two years ago, and is necessary to increase safety near a busy commuter railroad station? And by the way, if we nix the project, which is fully paid for by the state and federal governments, taxpayers will have to pay the state a half million for the work thats already been done.
