Great day today!! Spent the day cleaning and planting at Puuiki Cemetary in Waialua. Met Sheila, shes homeless and living at the beach by the cemetery. Before going to the cemetery, I had the urge to eat coconut and blueberry turnovers from Paalaakai bakery in Waialua so I stopped by to buy some. After buying It, I had reservations and asked why I even bought them. Anyway, so Sheila started telling me about her life story and how she became homeless. Sheila was in a abusive relationship so she filed for divorce and then found herself homeless and ended up living at the beach while her children went to live with her mother. So as we talked, I had asked if she had anything to eat. Before she could answer I walked to the truck and gave her the box of turnovers and told to enjoy it. Sheila began to tear and I asked if she was o.k. She then told me that when she got up this morning, she was just remembering that one of the favorite things she use to do on a Sunday morning was to get up early and walk to Paalaakai bakery and buy malasadas and other Pastries for her husband and kids. She looked at the box and the look on her face was of sadness and at the same time she smiled and thanked me. I told her my story of how I needed to buy pastries, but, after buying didnt feel like eating it. I told her that theres reasons why we do things we dont understand and then God shows us the answer. I met a new friend today and I wish her all the best. After I was done for the day, I stayed back and looking at the cemetery and towards the mountain, I just found myself thanking God for everything I have.
