Great day today. Was delighted to be in Turangi this morning with Louise Upston to announce a $208,000 grant to advance the restoration and preservation of the largest wetland in the Taupō basin. I then joined Jono Naylor to release estimates of the number of first home buyers in provincial New Zealand who are to benefit from the National’s new KiwiSaver HomeStart package. The evening ended with a event where I announced that Wildbase Recovery Community Trust is to receive a $90,000 grant from the Department of Conservation to put towards a new state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility for birds and wildlife and then another fantastic meeting where I told National’s strong environmental story.
