Great episode and yes, definitely a point that is typically missed (especially in Japans case imho). Id also like to draw some parallels in many ways with the current situation we are likely to face soon primarily in the form of increasing water shortages and the impact on food production and distribution - particularly in the case of Syria and most of the Arab Spring countries and driving factors for the current conflicts, rise of ISIS, etc. that we are currently seeing. Its not a terrible surprise that the current major conflicts are located in the most environmentally delicate regions of the world... Its also likely to get much worse as we await the next agricultural/environmental innovation/revolution to see us through this phase. https://youtube/watch?v=H-2q-QMUIgY
