Great hike today - and the brochure is right - the weather can change suddenly. After a sunny hot 6 miles in the canyon a thunder storm rolled in as we reached the Sunrise over look where we planned to eat our lunch before taking the rim trail 2.5 miles back to the car. We found shelter from the hail then walked 2 miles on the road to reach the car. They warn you to stay away from the rim during lightening and that more people are killed by lightening than falls. Our timing was good and we reached the car before heavy rain. I think I will go soak my feet now :-)
