Great meeting tonight at American Legion Post 56 in Marion. We conducted a Dignified American Flag Retirement Ceremony. We had 7 Cadets from the McDowell High School NJROTC and also had 6 Boy Scouts from one of our local troop assist with the ceremony. They assisted the Sgt. of Arms to present the Flags for inspection and burning after they were blessed by our Post Chaplain. We had several folks from the public in attendance as well. All in all, it gave the NJROTC the chance to learn what a Flag Retirement Ceremony was and how it is to be conducted and gave the Boy Scouts a glimps of the future of what they can become if they choose the military later in their life. It was a great public event for all concerned.
