Great news!!! If youve been following Lauryn for a while, you understand how difficult it has been for her to swallow her medications. We have tried everything under the sun to get her to take her meds by mouth, but she refused. This is the major reason for the ng tube that has been in her nose and taped to her face. Its a nose noodle that goes all they way down to her stomach. We have to change it once a month to prevent infections. I removed the ng tube Wednesday and was about to put the new one in and Lauryn said, No Mommy. Ill take my medicine in my mouth now. It took her a while to take it, but I gave her the choice (as I do each month) of having her nose noodle or taking the meds by mouth. Well she decided she didnt want her noodle anymore and she took her medicine. She has been taking them by mouth ever since!!! This is a HUGE deal!! So naturally, we are genuinely ecstatic each time she takes them, and we do a major happy dance for her. I know the positive reinforcement is encouraging for her just as it is for us. So now that she is noodle-free, she is also resuming her normal bathroom habits since shes only on IV in clinic. What a big girl now!!! I told her, Well, Lauryn, I guess you are growing up now! She said, Yes-I-am! These are pictures of her taking her medicine this morning. She wanted her friends to watch her do it.
