Great news! The State Task Force that was convened to study the possibility of beginning Marylands public school year after the Labor Day holiday has voted, overwhelmingly, to recommend a post-Labor Day start date to the Governor and General Assembly. While the hard work of passing a bill and getting it signed into law still lies ahead of us, this is a major step in the right direction. Sincere thanks to the Task Force for taking a serious look at this issue, and for standing up for the students, families, teachers and small businesses of our state.
