Great news everyone! We just passed a milestone - we have grossed over $500,000 at the box office. Apparently this is totally unheard of for a documentary that is being self-distributed and has essentially no money for P&A (prints and advertising). Most distributors spend as much or more in marketing and advertising to promote their films as they did in the making of it. As you all know, we did one screening at a time, took the profit from one screening to promote the next one. BUT - it is really thanks to all of you that we have had this success. Lately Ive been asking our audiences how they heard about the film and over half say word of mouth. Thank you for all youve done to spread the word and continue to do! We are still majorly in debt from making the film and hope we can pay that off with VOD/DVD sales. I am continuously humbled by the support and encouragement of so many of you! I like to call this project - the little film that could! We are throwing our hat into the Oscar ring and we really need to get as much publicity as possible - so if you have any press contacts at all (especially in LA,SF or NY) please contact Maggie at camino.maggiecech@gmail It is a bit of a long shot, lots of people have warned me that it is a campaign not a contest and we dont stand a chance without hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on publicity, but Annie keeps reminding me - we have a saint on our side!
