Great news for land preservation. Bad news for the artifacts. We at The Gettysburg Museum of History have been trying to get the artifacts. We knew about this deal for months. Looks like the Trust is going to sell the artifacts. We hope that they will give us a shot at preserving the artifacts and not let them get scattered to the wind by dealers. We would love to preserve and exhibit the important artifacts from Lees H.Q. here at The Gettysburg Museum of History. Our friends at the Trust do wonderful things for preservation of Civil War battlefields. We at The Gettysburg Museum of History would like to have the opportunity to preserve the artifacts, and keep them in Gettysburg! With this museum closing there is so little now available for artifact preservation. Who will speak for the care of artifacts? We will!
