Great news to share. As of today, we have 141 Representatives and Senators co-sponsoring the "Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act". We have much work to do to get this bill into law. Please continue to contact your state senators and district representatives weekly until you have received a response from them. We need lots of numbers to get their attention and get them on board. I have provided sample correspondence below for your email. Thank you for your help in urging Congress to support the women and men currently living with breast cancer and those yet to be diagnosed (1 in 8 women). Dear Senator or Representative, I am writing to urge you to co-Sponsor the "Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act". Please let me state why it is imperative that you join the other Representatives and Senators co-sponsoring this bipartisan bill to change the research conversation for breast cancer by January 1, 2020. First and foremost, we need to change the conversation about how current breast cancer research is being conducted due to the fact that in the past 40 years of research, we still do not know what causes breast cancer, how to prevent it or how to treat it effectively. This is unacceptable. In your review of this bill, please note that no additional funding is associated with the bill. In order to avoid any new funding being used for the Commission, the House version of the Accelerating the End of Breast Cancer Act, has the President rather than Congress authorized to establish the Commission. So, once the bill is passed by Congress, the President would then establish the Commission -- meaning the money would have to come from existing funding from the Executive Branch. I urge you to please review this bill and join the other 141 Representative and Senator co-sponsors.
