Great rant from our friend, Chris Hale at Friends of Water: This is the perfect example of deep seated corruption, nepotism, monopoly and greed in action, in real time, that has driven West Virginia backwards for the last 100 years. Take a picture; this is the problem. Why are coal industry barons still in control of our state government? Arch Moore, the first of the Gary Southern/Jim Justice/Don Blankenship brand of criminal industry lackeys, paved the way for his daughter; she and her greedy team of neoconservative industry evildoers are already trying to poison us again by trying to water down the legislation we passed last year in the wake of the #wvwatercrisis in order to protect our families lives. Shelley is standing AGAINST clean water protection and regulation in her new role on the environmental, energy and budget committees. How can an elected official actively lobby and advocate for polluters or poison being pumped into streams and rivers, over the babies who will drink formula made from this swill? Intentional poison = violent crime, period. Politicians who actively roll back clean water regulations are intentionally poisoning their constituents. This is a violent crime; an act of war, or high treason at the least. Many of us are sick and tired of being repeatedly poisoned, and having to fight tooth and nail to protect shared resources like the water and air that our children depend upon to survive. Sorry, Shelley Moore Capito, there are not enough oil, gas or coal jobs to justify intentionally poisoning your constituents. Our children refuse to do your heavy lifting, and would rather not ingest the coal slurry, fly ash, MCHM, PPH, or whatever else you are dumping into our streams and rivers. We are tired of being complacent, and will continue to speak truth to power. We will continue to advocate for labor and human rights over capital in our struggle to protect our water supply for future generations. This is a nonpartisan, just cause. Are you for or against clean water? What will it take to change the course of politics in the Fossil Fuel State? After everything that you have been through over the course of the last year, West Virginia, how could you willingly and collectively vote for this?
