Great review of the show in Brighton from the UK Circus Days facebook page by Steve Jacks: ZIPPOS CIRCUS - HOVE LAWNS, BRIGHTON - AUGUST 2013 It’s no secret that Zippos is by far one of my favourite Circuses. But I am not biased, it’s just ruddy great! And this year it continues in its greatness. Titled “Carnaval” - this year certainly has the exotic party experience, perhaps boosted mainly by the inclusion of the colourful and energetic Havana Troupe whose Russian Swing act and aerial act swinging from bar to bar and to each other is certainly a sight to see. The show starts after a great Carnaval parade with Chenoa on the solo trapeze, a very young and talented star. Other acts that follow include Ringmaster Norman Barrett (MBE doncha know!) who as well as introducing everything brilliantly presents his Budgies again with mostly it seemed to me new features this year - always a favourite with the audiences. There is also Jackie Louise who performs her excellent aerial strap act. Another very popular act new to the show this year is Hercules the strongman. Not just any old strongman act, Hercules manages to pull a mini bus with his teeth across the ring before letting it run over him and performs various other feats that amaze. The Lucious team return once again to end the show with their show stopping motorbike globe of death act. This features now not three but FOUR motorbikes riding around a small globe in various choreographed routines with at one point a female member standing in the middle. This normally achieves the accolade of a standing ovation and quite right too. To end the first half of the show, the team also appear with a daredevils act featuring motorbikes and quad bikes. The clowns this year are once again Duo Delbosq who return from last year. Two of my favourite clowns that constantly have me in stitches. They perform the busy bee routine, the four chairs routine and various other entrees. They are certainly a duo with character. Normally the horses this year are presented by Nicky de Neumann but unfortunately due to an accident she had to take a break for a couple of weeks so was replaced by a young lady called Rebecca. She did an excellent job as I saw her on her first day performing an interesting ballet act with the horse and trick riding act. Once again Zippos Circus is a force to be reckoned with, a true quality show which is great for all the family.
