Great story! Was 17 after a trouble youth had gotten grades at Community College to go to school and wanted to go as far from home as possible. Parents wouldnt let me go to school on West Coast so off to Louisiana it was. I left on Jan 4th for my 16 hour trip. When I arrived on Campus I was in a six story building and my roomie was from some Asian country, didnt speak a lick of English, and I was the only, yes the only white guy in the building. I guess Anthony Thomas and listing D.C. area got me here. My eyes were so opened my roomie every night study from 3 pm to 10pm using transilation book for every word. We bonded through music and food. The rest of the dorm gave me the nickname CWB (Crazy White Boy). The things that occured in that dorm on the weekend go beyond crazy. In La. at time anyone who graduated from high school with C or better got to go to college. I refused to say a word to parents didnt want I told you so. I Friended a guy Named Andre part of fraternity and became my best friend I spent several weekends on a sleeping mat in shot gun house in Slidell eating the best food known to man. Went to my first Mardi Gras with friends who had Marching, I mean a true Marching band from Slidell. Learned so very much and lived so far out my box. Still that CWB though!
