Great story and update about Project Tibet Society with Project Tibet Society - Toronto Chapter ... Your hard work has been nothing short of a miracle for these people. 1,000 displaced Tibetans have been earmarked to arrive to Canada by the Canadian Government helping out with issuing visas in the next couple of years. 84 have already arrived and are calling Toronto home, 106 in Calgary and a few more in Vancouver and Ottawa. Not sure of the numbers who have already landed in those cities. Leaving their families behind in search of a better life for themselves and in turn help out their families back in India can and is a daunting task to achieve. Their plans are to work hard, save up money, fulfill their obligations to the Canadian Citizenship and Immigration Act and eventually sponsor their family to come live with them in Canada (much easier said than done) ..... Whats even more impressive is that they are doing all this without any special treatment from the Canadian government in terms of receiving welfare or any special monetary aid that will burden the tax payers. With the help of countless volunteers and caring sponsors they were able to buy life insurance for each person for the first 3 months of being on Canadian soil until the waiting period for OHIP is over and starts to kick in. Just amazing.... These new and proud and soon to be Canadian Citizens are truly a story of inspiration and faith. Their determination is just something to behold while at the same time setting very high standards. Wish and pray for each and everyone of them all the best in the world ....
