Great time with Holly and her daughter Raven tonight....It was hard to keep up with Raven...:) So glad she went along.... I have no clue why I want to give a few low carb tips tonight but I feel the Lord may be impressing me to do so...So here goes...I vow not to be embarrassed if no one cares...lol A low carb lifestyle has been for years the most successful for me, (Everyone is different and so is our body chemistrys), so I thought Id share a couple of products I use frequently....Especially when Im bound and determined to take back lost ground fitness wise...Im all for dairy products if you have no issues with them.....and I dont at all.... and the low carb lifestyle loves them...But when you need to take in those protein drinks as I do, the sugar carbs can really add up quickly if you are using milk and sabatoge your whole plan. I absolutely love the flavor of this Unsweetened Almond/Coconut milk...It really gives my protein drink a great taste...I actually look forward to it....But if you can drink several ounces of milk a day and it not throw you off your game thats awesome. The other product Ive learned to use is simple Seltzer water....I thought all these years I was addicted to diet sodas, that it was the diet soda I loved, but really it was just the carbonated water I craved...Of course Id rather have Perrier, but generic does the job...Incidently I read a book years ago about eating right for your blood type and my blood lacks oxygen at times hence the craving for carbonated water...Not a bad thing...Diet sodas are deadly. I still treat myself to one or two diet sodas a week....But after going without them... they just dont taste as good anymore... If you can kick the habit...thank God! But its never an excuse to indulge in high sugar sodas for any healthy lifestyle plan......Sorry Pepsi and Coca Cola, but youre killing America...(I say this after I just enjoyed a diet Dr. Pepper...lol) Fall in love with iced tea sweetened with Stevia or fruit and vegetable infused water...Awesome stuff.. One final tip....Learn to be a great cheater....If you are truly craving, and going out of your mind for sugar( I recently suffered through a two week craving for a cupcake that left me crying to God for mercy...I dont think I would have traded my firstborn for one but I would have been tempted), I dont recommend going for the sugar free stuff. Overload on that stuff one time and youll know why......This craving was so intense. I said what the heck...Im going to the store....The moment I got into my car Brooklyn Tabernacle was singing, You Are More Than Enough and my spirit began to settle and I said OK God....I need you to help me. I walked into the grocery store, passed the cupcakes without a glance, went straight to the beef, picked up a New York Strip, went home, cooked it, ate it, and the craving was gone! Our bodies need protein! But for an occasional sugar treat that may keep you from sabotage, here is what I have done successfully and I think its a healthier alternative: If youre craving icecream or chocolate, take a couple tablespoons of frozen cool whip, add some almonds or walnuts, a teaspoon of peanut butter, and heres the sugar....a half a teaspoon of chocolate fudge topping...Yeah youre taking in a little sugar, but you are off setting it with a high count of protein...Trick your body...Tell yourself over and over you are enjoying an ice cream Sundae...Play the game....Satisfy your craving....And you can carry on....with minimal impact on glucose. ...pared to a bowl of Breyers that is. For the fall, I have a low carb version of an antique recipe for sweet potato pudding, using pumpkin as a substitute...I eat it warm topped with frozen cool whip..Super high in beta carotene yet less sugar carbs.... Again....these arent tips for calorie counters...But low carb life stylers on a very strict plan....
