Greek Words you should know: ABBA (G5) is used in only 3 verses in the N.T. and always with the Greek word G3962 which is translated as "Father". Jesus praying to His Father in Mark 14:36 before His crucifixion cries "ABBA FATHER". The word ABBA is term of love and respect. It is very similar to a small child calling for their "DA DA". It is interesting to note that this word is not actually a Greek word but an Aramaic word. It is also interesting to note that this word is transliterated into English and not interpreted in the Bible. You can find the other two verses using this word in Romans 8:15 and Galatians 4:6. In both of these verses the Spirit of God has spent sent into the believers heart to "cry ABBA FATHER". There are so many little things like this to learn in the Bible that it amazes me many times. -- Agapegeek
