Green Lantern and Robin(s) Confirmed for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice? Note: Potential SPOILERS for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice below: Big news from the world of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! If rumors currently circulating are true, then we could be set to see Green Lantern, two - count em, two - Robins, and a major, less famous fan favorite in the upcoming superhero extravaganza. Whats more - they arent the versions of the heroes that youd expect... Now, as always with early, unsubstantiated casting rumors, these need to be taken with a pinch of salt - especially in the light of their sources reticence, and the recent (potential) revelation regarding the leaked script theyre taken from. That said, if the rumors up till now are indeed true, these four heroes could shake up the DC movie universe completely... Take a look at what Devin Faraci of Badass Digest has to say - after which well take a close look at the individual heroes: I trust El Mayimbe [who has been reporting on the leaked script]s network and the other information he has beyond this script, but something about the actual script itself - whether it be the errors or the cascading fan-service (Kord Industries, Jason Todd, a Shuster Street in Metropolis, Kyle Rayner, Carrie Kelley, Thanagar, mentioning Hobs Bay, the President is named Diane Nelson, who just happens to be the president of DC Entertainment) or the fact that tonally it is nothing like Man of Steel (Themyscira has an embassy in Metropolis!) forces me to remain humbly skeptical. If this is the script then Warner Bros has learned some lessons from their last couple of movies, although I worry the sheer weight of fan service in this script could crush the film. So, Faraci is suspicious - but until confirmed by Warner Brothers, we have to at least consider the possibility that the leaked script is genuine. This, helpfully, gives us a little wiggle room to get totally over-excited about the prospect of some of those heroes appearing... So, without further ado, lets take a look at who they are. First up: Kyle Rayner: Green Lantern, but not as cinema audiences know him. Kyle Rayner was a freelance graphic artist who was granted the last remaining Green Lantern ring after the entire Green Lantern Corps was destroyed - by Hal Jordan, the cinematic Green Lantern. Hes never quite been the most popular Green Lantern - living in the shadow of Hal Jordan and John Stewarts more commonly adapted versions - but he would certainly make for an intriguing appearance in the DC cinematic universe. Also, Jimmy Olsens a fan, so you know hes got...street cred? Nope, thats not it... Jason Todd: Jason Todd holds the dubious honor of being the least popular of the many Robins that have existed over the years - but also perhaps the most complex. he took over from the original Robin, Dick Grayson, after he became Nightwing, but proved unreliable and full of rage - as well as actively disliked by fans. You can kind of see why in his animated appearances: So much so, in fact, that given the chance to vote on whether he would survive an explosion set up by The Joker - fans let Todd die. He would eventually return, however, as a distinctly villainous anti-hero, The Red Hood. Which version of Todd would appear in the film - or whether he would merely be a tragic part of Batmans past - remains unclear. Carrie Kelley: The other Robin listed by Faraci, Carrie Kelley, is a less controversial figure. Initially appearing in the alternate universe of Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns, Kelley has recently been brought into the mainstream DC universe - though not initially as Robin. If she were to appear in the movie, though, it would more likely suggest a leaning towards Millers classic run, which sees Batman and Superman face off - with deadly consequences: Kord Industries (and Blue Beetle...): Kord Industries, if it were to appear in the film, might just mean something a little...more. Known as Kord Enterprises in the comics, its run by Theodore Stephen Ted Kord - aka The Blue Beetle. The second hero to use that name, Kord became a fan favorite - especially during his frequent team-ups with Booster Gold, though also of course with more established characters, including Batman: The odds of Blue Beetle actually appearing though? Slim to none... Bonus Additional References: Thanagar? Thatd be the home of Hawkman, and assorted other Hawk People. Shuster Street? Presumably named after Joe Shuster, one half of the comic-book duo - alongside Jerry Siegel - that created Superman back in the 1930s. Hobs Bay? One of Metropolis poorer neighborhoods, Hobs Bay was a traditional recruiting ground for the criminal organization Intergang, run by a certain Morgan Edge, already rumored to appear in the film. The big question now? If the rumors are true... Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for release May 6, 2016, with, or without, all of these characters.
