Green Party President Peter Sinkamba says he will take over Lumwana mine in Solwezi on the Copperbelt if elected republican president on January 20, 2015. Mr Sinkamba has told ZNBC News in Kitwe that if Barrick Gold decides to go ahead with the closure of the mine, all the miners who will loose their jobs will be reinstated if he is elected president. The Green Party leader says the miners will also be paid for the number of days they will be out of employment. He added that the valuation department will also be engaged to assess the assets of the mining company. Mr. Sinkamba says Government must not be scared to take over the mine as this is the only way through which maximum benefits can be derived from the Country’s mineral wealth. He further says measures will be put in place to ensure the country benefits from privatized mines. Mr. Sinkamba has appealed to Zambians to vote for him in the January 20, presidential election because he has a good plan for the country.
