Greenville Leader News, November 14, 1930 P.1 du Pont Dies At Delaware Horne Was one of The Pioneers In Development of Coal Industry In Muhlenberg County Member Prominent Family T. Coleman du Pont 66 years old member of the prominent du Pont family of Delaware, and long identified with the national and state organizations of the Republican party, died at his home at Wilmington, Deleware, Tuesday afternoon, from a throat affliction which for several years resisted all effort of relief. Coleman du Pont was a son of Antoine Beidermann DuPont, of Louisville and spent many years in Muhlenberg county, living at Central City, where he had charge of the coal interests of his family. For many years he was manager of the Central Coal & Iron Company, and was one of the pioneers in the development of the coal industry in Muhlenberg. He moved to Wilmington, Delaware, in 1900, to become associated with the E. I. du Pont De Nemours Company, becoming its president in 1902, and holding this office until 1925. Coleman du Pont was true to his native state and maintained a keen interest in its people and affairs. He donated $230,000 for the purchase of Cumberland Falls and a large tract of land, dedicated as a state park. He married Miss Alice du Pont, of Wilmington, Deleware, and is survived by his widow, three daughters and one son.
