Greenwood was the spot of a sobriety checkpoint Saturday evening. According to Chief Hallgrimson, 459 vehicles went through the checkpoint, 7 field sobriety tests were given, 4 DUI arrests were made, 3 drug possession/drug paraphernalia arrests were made, 2 minor in possession/consumption arrests. There were 60 other citations written for various minor issues during the checkpoint. Five agencies participated and the overtime was paid by a federal grant, not local tax dollars. Greenwood PD does plan another of these events in 2014. We will be notified the day of that checkpoint and pass the information to you. Local television was notified for Saturdays event but the Dispatch was not notified in advance. Law enforcements general attitude towards publication of checkpoints is that any kind of deterrent is good and we did confirm that with Chief Hallgrimson today.
