Greeting Community: (Aaron) It has been a while since our last update, but we assure you all that it has been business as usual. Weve been getting a lot of work done on the content, design, art, and technological side of development. Art and content are preparing releases for the new profiles section of the official site. Profile pages will feature information and imagery of signature heroes, villains, and factions. In addition, well be adding a few new pages with information regarding the various locations of the game world. Our Art Director has been working on the new character concept revisions, and highlighting many of the soon-to-be popular signature heroes and villains. The new Design Director has been spending a lot of time working out details regarding character creation, power set handling, player progression, and PvE aspects. Great progress is being made on all fronts, and hes planning on presenting an update to his original proposal real soon. He gathered a lot of great feedback from the community on his last proposal, and is really working hard to insure that Valiance has a design that we would all view as an advancement to what was seen in CoH. On the technical side of production, weve continued improving the MMO technology. Weve polished off the PvP arena tech, and add support for PvP specific skill tampering (not something we hope to use but it happens), much like what was found in CoH. One of the coolest things weve finally added is friend lists and private messaging. Players can now see when their friends are online, invite them to groups, and send them private messages from the social window. Weve also added some new heuristic AI to mobs, so they use unique attacks depending the amount of adversaries they are combating. Another thing weve added is polishing to workbenches, salvaging, and crafting of items for bases. Amongst all the above mentioned, weve fixed ton of bugs reported in the last playtest phase. Lastly, we have finally resolved the website registration issue. After all the digging, testing, and implementation wed tried, it came down to a simple line of code involving the new Recaptcha API update. It appears Google once again updated its Captcha technologys functionality without alerting its registered users. One of the reasons it was initially overlooked is because we had a lot of members registering to the site daily, leading us to look elsewhere. A few users were getting captchas with 2 word solutions, which is what the old security method required. The new method can use 1 or 2, so members trying to register with one were getting errors due to the old format tech not allowing a single word. Weve fixed the issue, and we apologize for taking so long to figure out what was happening there. With all said, were still moving forward. The team has an upcoming interview with our friends over at Namesake Radio. Well be making a big announcement there, and sharing a video with gameplay and some other great updates. As always, thanks for supporting us, and giving our project your attention. This project would be nothing without all your support, well-wishes, and direction. Until the next post...
