Greeting to all! Last week we had the privilege and pleasure of having three special guests at the jam: Son Jack Jr., Michael Wilde and, all the way from London, England, Martin Fieber. All three are top-notch musicians and put on a fantastic performance for all who attended. If you missed it, Son Jack and Michael (good luck at the WBS BB Awards!) will be playing gigs all around the sound, although to catch Martin, you’ll have to travel a bit farther. Last Thursday, he flew to Chicago to play at the Blues Fest, and he’s probably back in England as you read this. (You can check him out on several you tube videos.) A big thanks also goes out to Tommy Cook, who took over the drum duties while Dave took some well needed rest and relaxation. Dave will be back this week. This week we’re happy to bring back Bobby Holland and Jim McLaughlin. Both are members of Bobby Holland and the Breadline, playing guitar and harmonica, respectively. Originally from Virginia, Bobby spent the early part of his musical career touring the US. After arriving in the Seattle area, he played with Hotel Texas and, luckily for us, decided to stay. An accomplished guitar player and singer, he has performed with a number of notable artists including: Sugarcane Harris, Harvey Mandel and Joe Ely. Two time World Harmonica Champion Jim McLaughlin is a local treasure. He calls Ebey Island home, having toured North America, Australia, Japan and Europe, performing in a wide range of styles. Some of the notable musicians Jim has performed with are Bela Fleck, Vassar Clements, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, WAR and Charlie Musslewhite, to name just a few. Jim is also the creator of the Ebey Island Freedom Fest, held every Labor Day weekend (4 years so far!) at Jims place on - wait for it - Ebey Island. Jim has this year been once again nominated by the WBS for Best Harmonica, the Hall of Fame Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as Best Blues Festival. Good luck Jim! Wishing all of you nothing but the best, Paul, Willow and Dave - Unbound p.s. Heres Steve: Greetings from the kitchen! This weeks Blues Plate Special... Awesome Pasta! Chicken, Bacon, Ham and Penne Pasta tossed in a cheesy cream sauce. With Toast.. $9.95. Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads out there... Well see you on Hump Day!!
