Greetings All, I just wanted to communicate to you all that CSS and other agencies have created the Laredo Humanitarian Relief Team consisting of interfaith personnel and agencies. This team has created a coordinated effort to assist Central American families who are being bused into Laredo from the Brownsville/McAllen area. These families are being dropped of at the Greyhound Station with an Notice to Appear (immigration court) which allows them to travel throughout the US. The families are being dropped off without any resources and appear to be hungry and need of change of clothes. These families are in need of basic toiletries, clothes, etc. of which care packages are provided to them. Other efforts in place ensures that they have food and able to shower. However more is needed such as bleach, Lysol, trash bags, etc. for the facilities as they need to be sanitized regularly. Along with the items needed Volunteers are needed to assist with tasks to help run the operation. Catholic Social Services has opened St. Peters the Apostle School area to operate this mission. We are there from 10am to 8pm. We welcome you if you have time to assist this effort. If you are approached about donations both monetary or items please refer them to CSS at St. Peters the Apostle using the entrance on Santa Maria.
