Greetings Comrades, I am going to resurrect my little side project yet again... I first tried to get this off the ground back in December 2013 but then life events intervened. I briefly revisited it in the summer of 2014 still without much success. The idea is for it be a small club, group, society, (call it what you will) for actual meet-ups and events, based on the American idea of forming Airships as a collective of individuals with shared interests and purpose. Anyone can join, but it will focus very much on participating in activities rather than being a general genre-punk interest group. For those interested in such things, the groups timeframe will be very much the crossover period of latter Steampunk - early Dieselpunk, so very late Victorian, Edwardian, WW1, Biggles, 1920s desert exploration. Think camels and carpetbags. Pith helmets. Zerzura. Tin-Tin. Quite a lot of Tin-Tin and Biggles actually. Furthering that aim, there will be a clear club/group identity, including a crew uniform, or at least, themed attire - I am very much of the view that 6 or 8 individuals with a unified appearance makes more impact in a sea of other eclectic individuals - basically, if you go to a football match dressed in Steampunk finery you are going to stand out like a sore thumb ... but if you go to a Steampunk gathering dressed as a Steampunk you are lost in all the other splendidness. I based this view on one of my early genrepunk inspirations: the IAAC and Major Girth and his Crew. In my head I think of the club as a theatrical group or even a display team. That might be over-ambitious, but perhaps you will get that the idea is to present a coherent theme with some story-telling content so the group will be performers to some degree.
