Greetings Comrades, hope all of you are “at” or “near” the finish line! Just wanted to “salute all of you who have purchased “Peace in the Hood!” The book is flying off bookshelves, Barnes & Nobles keep selling out their supplies. I truly appreciate the outstanding reviews and the 5 stars so many of you have given the book. My goal was to “keep it real,” inspire, motivate, emotionally & strategically force the reader to think and ponder. I intended to provide solutions and implement a tangible template/blueprint that could be studied over and over. We seem to have accomplished that task and I am humbled so many of you agree. A true teacher that serves the people is one who: a) truly shares the nature of those he or she wants to serve, b) mingles and intermixes in the lives of the ones they affect, c) is acquainted with their struggles and victories, d) sympathizes with their joys and sorrows, e) and finally realizes he or she is not “above” them but “of” them. Bottom line you have to be “one” of the people and get down and dirty with them. I have said a thousands times, “It is the people you serve that validated you and your work!” Public service is the rent we pay for being allowed to take up space on this earth! So, those of you who truly say you are committed to this cause and are part of the movement, you better be true to the mission and realized the community will hold you accountable! Keep your word, reinforce your integrity, recharge your courage and always stand with dignity! Oftentimes you will have to “go it alone” against tremendous odds, in those times, keep your heads high and your feet firm” stay the course and let no one define your reality! Go where there’s no path, set the standard and leave a trial! (I hope to see as many of you at the official book launch on the 19th of this month, next Saturday at Eso Won book from 5 to 7pm) Peace, Brother Basheeer
