Greetings Fellow Club Members Welcome back to the 2014 - 2015 school year! This year the Anthropology and Human Sciences Club (formerly known as the Anthropology and History Club) has a lot of fun and exciting opportunities to share with you these coming quarters. The club would like to be able to take members to places such as the Portland Art Museum to explore the individual expression of human nature, perhaps go on captivating tours of Portland and their Shanghai Tunnels, maybe take a guided Haunted Walking Tour of Vancouver to celebrate our cultural tradition of Halloween, and have a movie night or two to watch special showings of fictionalized and non-fictionalized films that promote intelligent conversations about cultural differences, moral and religious differences, lifestyles, and all aspects that make up a living, breathing society. If possible, the Anthropology Club would eventually like to coordinate a weekend to Seattle to visit such places as the Burke Museum of Natural History and the Pacific Science Center. This is only an idea. It is not a guarantee. After a few months, the club will have a better idea about how to get a trip like this started. If the opportunity arises, we will let members know as soon as all the details are smoothed out. There are many more activities we can do and that is where you, as an Anthropology Club Member, can get involved! Come join us at our bi-weekly member meetings where you can bring ideas to the table and help get an event started with your club! These events can include volunteer efforts that you think would be a great way to give back to the local community, possible day trips to places in Portland or around the Vancouver area, and even special social events! All ideas are encouraged and welcomed! Right now, there are no times for member meetings currently as we are still awaiting on our club charter and room/time assignment. We will keep you posted!! Also, Cassandra Asper unfortunately had to resign from her position as President and she has appointed Vice President Elena Morales as acting President. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Elena anything! I look forward to getting to know every one! ~Elena Morales Anthropology and Human Science Club, President
