Greetings, I am awestruck by Georgiana Jackson - Callens WAPPY feedback for Kyria Consultants Ltd. Thank you Georgie. You are an inspiration! I invite FB friends to read below: I regret not being able to meet you in person. When you read this I will be in Merton College, Oxford, singing with its chapel choir. However, I am an Acton girl first and foremost, and so very proud to be a founding member of WAPPY. As a high performing student I acutely felt the pressures of GCSEs and A-Levels throughout my time at Twyford CE High School. A weekly two-hour session at WAPPY was enough not only to alleviate these pressures but also to provide me with a creative space where I could put my thoughts into words. Throughout my schooling I have seen too many of my friends burn out from the hamster wheel of work, stress and more work; WAPPY provides a safe, non-judgmental space where young people can create and enjoy guidance from a diverse range of mentors. In fact, diversity is, without a doubt, WAPPYs star quality - and not just in its members and volunteers, who come from across generations, cities and ethnicities, but also in terms of skills gained and honed. For example, as a senior member who had previous experience in film, I was commissioned to film the WAPPY showcase a few years ago. This involved organising interviews with individual members, deciding on camera angles, capturing sound and finally editing it all together - a wonderful experience for a 15 year old. And finally, our valiant leader, Grace Quansah, goes by many names but none of them accurately capture what she truly is: a dynamo. I have seen her turn a group of children who are complete strangers into a group of firm friends able to create an original and coherent performance in the space of two hours. She is an absolute inspiration who really knows how to bring out the best in each member, leads a wonderful team of volunteers and raises WAPPYs profile by organising performances at venues such as Keats House - which proved massively helpful for my A-Level English - and most recently, in front of Benjamin Zephaniah himself. Added to numerous publications of members poetry and prose, it is clear that WAPPY nurtures not only the personal but also the professional development of its members. In conclusion, WAPPY is more than simply a Writing, Acting, Publishing and Performing Group for Youngsters: it is a briiant, phenomenally supportive community where young people can shine. I believe that every child in the Ealing area should have the opportunity to be part of such a community, and as such, there is no other cause I can think of that is more worthy of your support. Georgiana Jackson-Callen, Choral Scholar, French and Spanish Undergraduate, Merton College, Oxford and Proud alumna of WAPPY
