Best Practices Conference: Shared Responsibility - Student-Faculty Engagement Friday, February 27th The Graduate Center, White Plains Time: TBA Sponsored by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology (CLTL) and the Pforzheimer Center for Faculty Development, Pace University’s 5th annual Best Practices “Conference” will look, for the first time, at the Pace student-faculty relationship, specifically, the shared responsibility of faculty and students and the ownership of their respective roles. Note that this conference is being coordinated just for Pace students and faculty. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of this incredibly valuable opportunity to discuss mutual expectations and responsibilities as well as what works best for you in the classroom! Some ideas for possible presentation topics include (but are certainly not limited to): •Active teaching/learning strategies •Project-based, experiential learning, and/or case-based learning •Learning outcomes that address transferable skills employers are seeking •Interdisciplinary teaching/learning •Effective learning communities or civic engagement courses •Scholarly activities in residence halls •Mutual respect and mentoring relationships between faculty and students •Creative use of technology in the classroom •High impact educational practices If you are unable to write a proposal, we urge you to at least attend the Best Practices Conference - its a great learning opportunity! Both faculty and student participation are necessary to make the conference successful, so please share this with your friends. Student transportation costs will be reimbursed. Student participation in this conference is vital to its success and this is your opportunity to have your voice be heard in terms of effective classroom practices and shared responsibilities/expectations!
