Greetings Unitenians! LET’S MAKE IT HAPPEN! Name: Sarannya a/p Kengkathran Currently pursuing: Bachelor of Accounting (Hons.) Year: Two Before I go further about my manifesto, I would like to say a few words. “It has been my passion to contribute to the welfare of students in UNITEN. I wish to take my contribution to the next level.” Manifesto: 1. The Clamping System in UNITEN Having said to this, although it does not affect the students who walk for class, but it gives a huge impact to those who bring their own car. Do you think it is relevant enough to have Clamping System in the University Compound? From what I have encountered, Clamping System should be abolished. UNITEN Bangi has abolished the system, why not UNITEN Muadzam Shah? Why not standardise it? Talking about the standardisation, hostel fees has been increased (RM220) because they wanted to standardise it with UNITEN Bangi, students ID has been standardised with a chip similar to UNITEN Bangi. So why is there unfairness among students in UNITEN Bangi and UNITEN Muadzam Shah in this issue? Students go through a lot of difficulties once their car has been clamped, such as having damaged rim, scratched on a nice classy rim and dissatisfaction towards the management. With this, in my term of being a Student Representative Council, I would propose to the management to abolish Clamping System and substitute it with a record keeping of student’s car parked in banned areas by issuing them warning letters. 2. Add and Drop Session Do you encounter difficulties during add and drop session? Are you aware that the add and drop session which should be held for only a week has been dragged to the second and third week? Do you realise that you have to miss the lecture class due to timetable problems arise during add and drop session? Therefore, I would put it to an end or improve the situation by allocating more counters at the help desk to assist students during the add and drop session. Facilitators would be recruited to be in charge of the counters because they basically know the system as they have assisted the new in-takers in doing their timetable. With this, students don’t have to miss their lecture classes on the second and third week. This would make it simpler and easier for students to have their timetable finalised by the end of first week. 3. Wi-Fi in Hostels I would take this opportunity to thank the management for equipping Wi-Fi in hostels but what is the point of having Wi-Fi in hostels when we can’t access to the Wi-Fi connection? Why not have the same Wi-Fi internet accesses as in the campus when we are back in hostel? Wi-Fi in hostels would enable students to be always in touch and be connected with updates from lecturers, emails and assignment or project papers. It may not affect those students who are staying in the room because they do have LAN ports to access the internet but think about those who live in the hall. They depend solely on the Wi-Fi connection to access the internet. Why waste money on broadband and portable Wi-Fi when you have Wi-Fi in hostels? From what I have encountered, the management could not increase the speed of Wi-Fi connection because it is to the maximum and they can’t fix more LAN ports as it is limited. Therefore, I would propose to the management to increase the number of wireless adapters in each floor of the hostel. With this, it would be a great solution to cut through this limitation. I would grab this opportunity to prove myself as a leader to serve the students. Vote for me and I will accomplish my manifesto. Thank you. “BE THE BEST, DO THE BEST, BUT NOT TOO MUCH”
