Greetings, all! I am new to the group, at Jennifer Bristows suggestion, and jumping right off the deep end with both feet first! I am in my third year at The Northern California Renaissance Faire, and my first year in a stage show. For this show, I am required to make an entire costume, and it must be performance-ready by Sept.12 (yeesh!). I have only half-made a kirtle before this, although I am ridiculously picky and seem to be able to produce surprisingly good results out of sheer stubborn will. Anyway, I am looking for someone in the San Jose/Bay area to help me avoid beginners mistakes. My character is basically every little girls fantasy princess come to life, so I have some leeway from absolute HA, but we still want it to look Elizabethan. Im starting with the stays, based on the Effigy Corset pattern. Im armed with materials, time, and some money, and just enough (internet) knowledge to make me dangerous. Is there anyone out there willing to check in with my process once or twice a week and make sure Im not doing anything stupid? Thanks in advance!
