Greetings all, first Id like to thank everyone for the well - TopicsExpress

Greetings all, first Id like to thank everyone for the well wishes, theyre truly appreciated. Though this was supposed to be a simple surgery, the docs say 4-6 week recovery period, I say WRONG ANSWER, I intend to be up and running by Monday (Nuff said). I said before surgery that I was optimistic and I would share, so here it is. I had the pleasure of meeting with two (2) young, incredibly caring providers during this ordeal, 2 providers who truly care about the folks they serve, the veterans. They are both very aggressive and are determined to bring VA healthcare to the forefront by bringing all of the latest or most current medical technologies to our VAMCS. Also, they want to change the make up of providers, that is by bringing on younger providers who have the newest or freshest ideas and training, while maintaining a balance of more experienced providers to act as mentors. I truly felt the intentions are honest and their visions for the future are not only comforting, but very encouraging as well. While Im pleased to have met these 2 motivated folks it only strengthens my belief that the system itself is greatly flawed. We have a system that is almost designed to breed corruption by placing the greatest value on QUANTITY vs QUALITY of care, and that, in my humble opinion is what we MUST change. As Ive said repeatedly concerning the entire Dept of VA, we shouldnt hate the players (providers), we should hate the game (system and those running it). In the end its all about every single veteran who deserves the highest quality of healthcare available, delivered in a prompt, timely manner by courteous respectful people, and thats what we will continue to advocate for.
