Greetings and Salutations to My Ecclectic Flock of Fellow Diorama UK Members. Pictured here are (2) Discs, Upper (Bridge,Control Center) and Bottom Section of the USS Enterprise, Into the Darkness Starship. YES! I would forgive you all for thinking:- What is a Hardcore StarWars Fan like I, committing an act of Sacrilege by building this StarTrek Model! Well, its like this, a good Freind of mine, who obviously hasnt the Model Making abilities, as me, asked me to do this build for him. He has invested heavily in this project by spending over €500 so far on Optional Electronic Goodies to illuminate the ship, and he has built an Elaborate Display Case also. So far, Im actually enjoying the initial prep for this Model. I have applied (12) coats of paint so far to the Upper and Lower Discs. Firstly, the inner side of each disc had to be sprayed with (2) coats of Matt Black paint, reason for this, is to create a Curtain/Screen in order to prevent the powerful Electric Blue LED lights from permeating through the plastic. Then, (2) coats of Matt Grey had to be applied over the Matt Black. Then, a further (2) coats of Gloss White has to be sprayed over the Matt Grey, as the LEDs will bounce Light off the Gloss White Interior, and then Out through the small bridge windows and portholes. Anyway, I sanded down the Outer Matt a Grey Primer today using an Ultra Fine Sandpaper, as Im applying the Final White a Pearlescent Paintjob on Saturday to both Spheres. I havent started the Engine Nacelles and Hull yet, these have to be masked off yet, and the same process will apply to these sections as the a Spheres. Theres so much work to be done in this build as all the LEDs have to be fixed in and optional Aztec transfers had to be bought in the U.S. and delivered via courier. These Aztec Transfers will add a beautiful resonance to the Overall Paintjob when its finished. Also the LEDs will illuminate the Blue Buzzards on the Nacelles. We are Not going to use the conventional Model Display Stand supplied with the Revell Kit, rather extremely minute holes have been drilled into the Hull Belly for the wiring to pass through, Conduit in many respects will be tastefully done using a Stainless Steel a Tube, which will be fastened flush to the underbelly of the Ship, also acting as a support for the Model. The wiring, which obviously wont be visible will travel down through the Stainless Steel Tube, then through a Smoked Perspex reflective flooring, which rests on a Mahogany Table. A switch, similar to a standard light switch will be fitted on the a Underside of the Table, Out of Sight! The Display Perspex Cabinet has already been built to the exact size of the Mahogany Table, so its very professional. Im really enjoying this Project, and I really think this Model Enterprise Design is Fabulous. Anyway, Enough Said, Ill keep you posted on the Build as I work on it stage by stage. Tom.
