Greetings friends and family! As some of you may know, I have recently decided to travel to Guatemala for two weeks this upcoming May through a volunteering program called Cross-Cultural Solutions. I will be supporting a team of dedicated medical professionals in Guatemala City as they offer services to the community. As a healthcare volunteer, I will be assisting nurses, doctors, and other caregivers. In addition, I will be given the opportunity to teach children in underfunded primary schools and improve the quality of healthcare for the elderly and the disabled. Most importantly, I am being given the opportunity to be involved in the most wonderful exchange. Most people will find themselves in need at one point in their life. Right now, I need to be challenged and I need to be shown a world outside my comfort zone. I hope that through this experience, I can give help where it is needed in exchange for a new respect for those with a life unlike my own. I am thrilled to be able to participate in this adventure and hope that you will support me.
