Greetings from Interface! Communalism in India seems to be a never dying serpent – one that slowly raises its ugly head with more ‘regularity’ and creates havoc in the social fabric of India. Every time we read of communal violence in different places, we ‘wonder’ with shock and shame at our propensity in never letting its embers die and also the felicity with which our brethren repeatedly fan these embers to fire. Noted writer, Shashi Tharoor paints a realistic picture of this mechanism in his novel – Riot. In the CONTEXT of the Muzaffarnagar riots, we invite you to a discussion on the TEXT – RIOT at our forthcoming meeting. Mr. Shekar Hardikar, Principal, The Galaxy School has consented to be our Speaker and will take us through Tharoor’s lexicon to understand this caustic chemistry between religion and social life. The schedule of A TEXT FOR THE CONTEXT is as follows: Date : October 6, 2013 Time : 10.30 am to 11.30 am Venue : Station-e Language Lab, 2-Silver Sand, Opp. Big Bazaar, 150 Ft. Ring Road, Rajkot.
