Greetings from Manila. I arrived about five hours ago, and was met at the Manila Airport by my friends Juditho and Annie Dela Cruz and their three sons. The two boys who are in school took the day off to welcome me and were wearing T-shirts with American symbols to welcome me. The trip over was good. At JFK Airport while on the Korean Airlines waiting line I met a recently retired Filipino doctor named Linda who, among other things, will go to Tacloban to see if she can help with medical mission groups. At the airport I met a newly ordained priest of the Brooklyn Diocese who is of Filipino background. I know one of his seminary professors. We had a long conversation -- Im afraid I did too much of the talking -- which helped make the 14=hour flight from JFK to Seoul go fast er. At the Seoul Airport I met a St. Johns parishioner who is a parish catechist. I think her name is Cherico. (Rosemarie Flood, our religious ed director, if you are reading this, tell me whether or not I am spelling her name correctly.) She was with people from Teaneck, the neighboring town. Talking to them helped make the layover at the Seoul Airport go faster.
