Greetings from a very damp Eastleigh, on the Eve of the first - TopicsExpress

Greetings from a very damp Eastleigh, on the Eve of the first Sunday of 2015! Anyone would think St Swithuns Day had arrived early this year! Thinking of all those poor people who were left to fend for themselves at sea, by unscrupulous people prepared to traffic fellow human beings for money, as if they were cattle or commodities. May those people be rescued, and taken to safety and may those who perpetrated such wickedness, repent of their sin against humanity, s that they can be forgiven. Remembering those who go to sea as fishermen, or to carry our own food and supplies around the world, we ask that, if it be the will of God, the crew of the capsized cargo ship off the coast of Scotland, be brought to safety. If they have been lost, we ask for Gods comfort and care for their dear ones, as they wait in uncertainty, and ask that the souls of those lost be held by God. We give thanks to God for all those who go to the aid of seafarers as lifeboat crew, Air Sea Rescue crew and coastguards, that they may be guided and guarded by God and we give thanks for their selflessness courage, and that of their families. As we hear that the medical condition of Nurse Pauline Cafferkey has seriously deteriorated, we thank God for her selfless efforts to aid those suffering from Ebola, who have few able to help them. May she be gently held in Gods loving arms and may all those who rush to the aid of those suffering, be protected and blessed in their efforts to bring comfort and healing. We think of all those whose lives, homes and possessions are under threat from raging bush fires in South Australia and Victoria and commend them to Gods care and protection. We remember thankfully, all those who place themselves in danger to protect others from fire, and ask that they be strengthened, encouraged and protected. Remembering also, those animals whose lives and habitats are threatened by the fires, that they may not be forgotten and those injured or traumatised, may be given safe haven and care. Giving thanks for the gifts of animal friends and the difference they bring to peoples lives, enriching them with joy, companionship, devotion and sheer love. May all those who have lost a loved animal friend, find comfort in their memory and the knowledge that each gave much to the other. We give thanks too, for all animal rescue organisations, for all veterinary staff and for all who willingly gives homes to abandoned and unloved animals. Remembering the victims of the AirAsia aircraft loss and their dear ones. May the souls of those lost, be held in Gods safekeeping and their families, friends and colleagues be comforted and upheld in Jesus arms. We continue to pray for Bp Michael Lewis, his priests and people, in the Gulf, that they may know that they have not been forgotten and are being upheld in Gods love and care. As we pray for them, we also remember the group of Coptic Christians, who have been kidnapped in Libya by Islamic extremists, asking that they all be brought safely back to their loved ones. For those who are about to begin painful and distressing course of treatment in the New Year, we ask for God to give them strength and courage and for His reassurances for them and their dear ones. May God bless and keep us ALL, this night and always. X
