Greetings from wintry/dreary Kansas this fine Friday morning................... Una Mae Carlisle, born in Ohio this date in 1915 was a jazz singer, pianist, and songwriter. She had a boogie-woogie style during the swing era of music. As so often was seen here in the USA, she was not really recognized for her talent since she was an African American woman. She went to Europe and toured for a number of years achieving wonderful acclaim. After returning to the USA she had her own radio show in the 1940s, and achieved recognition as a songwriter to such performers as Cab Calloway and Peggy Lee. She had many serious health issues and died in 1956.
