Greetings, my fellow nodes! I have a servo and RF proximity device question but first, let me explain the challenge: In film, when youre shooting a moving actor, In addition to the camera man (Me) you need a dedicated person to watch a 2nd monitor and change the focus of the lens in real time so that the actor doesnt go out of focus when they move about the set. This is not only challenging but requires that 2nd person on the shoot who has experience in pulling focus, not to mention that there will be errors since its a human at the controls. This can be very costly on shoots where you have a short amount of time to complete the shot. In Hollywood, this position is called first AC or Focus Puller. its a full time job, literally. I want to design a unit that can change the focus of a camera lens based on its proximity to a a RF unit placed on an actor. This is already being developed by a company called Andra but I had this idea many years ago and the upcoming solution is very expensive coming in at $8K for the basic package. I think I could make one for a lot less but I wanted to consult the oracle to find out more information regarding what kind of servos and RF device I would need to pull it off. I believe this can be done with a couple servos, a Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and an RF Transmitter and some very simple code but Im interested in what kind of servos I should be looking at and what might be the best RF transmitter that would work well with being placed on an actor to interact with the unit to keep the lens in focus regardless of where the actor was moving. Thank you!
