Greg Barber and I were down in the Latrobe Valley today speaking - TopicsExpress

Greg Barber and I were down in the Latrobe Valley today speaking to residents about coal and coal seam gas. These residents are deeply concerned about what more coal mine allocations and CSG will do to their health, farmland and community. Labor today announced coal operators will have new safety standards - but thats not enough. Hazelwood is one of the dirtiest and oldest power plants in the world and as long as there is a huge open cut coal mine next to a town, there will always be a huge fire and health risk. We need to shut Hazelwood and stop further coal and CSG, and give communities certainty rather than tinkering at the edges.
