Grenada never fails to consistently pull off a great showcase of its tropical flora at the notorious Chelsea Flower Show -- one of the most respected annual horticulture events. Run by Grenadian, Suzanne Gaywood, the team representing the island this year bring an array of national plants and flowers of different shapes, growth and of course colours. These decorative displays originate from the Balthazar Estate in Grenadas parish of St Andrew -- a plantation-turned-estate owned by horticulturist Denis Noel. The Balthazar Estate sits amidst the lush greenery of the Grand Etang rainforest and was once the place to go for the production of sugar cane, cocoa, citrus fruits, bananas and nutmeg. Today, it predominantly focuses on growing exotic flowers for commercial activity. The Grenada team already has nine gold medals under its belt, so its this years competition that could see them bag a tenth win.
