Grief is not something you purge, fight, set aside, get over...etc. It is something that becomes a part of you. You embrace the loss because no matter what you say or do it will always be with you. Sometimes it is just an echo of memory...a tightening of your gut...a gentle smile at a memory. But it is never gone. Each person handles loss in their own way and in their own time. Loss is differently dealt with even from one event to the next in the same person. Trying to force someone to deal the way you think they should is wrong and counterproductive to their healing. Embrace your loved ones and understand their joys and pains. Understand and by all means tell them when it is too much for you. Take care to not lose a moment dwelling on the past or worrying about a future that may never come to pass.
