Grimsby team news v Macclesfield. Craig Clay and Scott Neilson will face late fitness tests ahead of the New Years Day clash with Macclesfield Town (3pm). Both players limped out of Sundays defeat to Lincoln City but they both managed some light training this morning. However, Carl Magnay, who also limped out of that Imps game, is said to be touch and go as to whether he recovers from a foot injury in time to face the Silkmen. Paul Bignot, Caine Winfarrah and Paul Walker are on standby in case the former Gateshead defender doesnt make it. Paul Hurst will deliberate on whether to recall Scott Brown to his central midfield. The former Southport man was rested for Sundays Lincolnshire derby game. Speaking to Mariners Player, the Town boss said: Scott is just one of those midfield players where there is competition. Diz has been doing well, Craig Clay came in and did well the other day. My judgement is not going to be all clouded by the result - I will look at performances. I know Scott is desperate to play and I know what his qualities are. I will have a think about that and decide the team.
