Group Input Needed: After reading the article posted today: The Child Victim of a Narcissistic Personality, I had sort of a scary realization. My N ex is very emotionally abusive and manipulative of our 6 year old daughter. On several occasions my daughter has told me things her father does that are just very poor parenting and emotionally abusive and manipulative. She tells me these things upset her. In an effort to help her resolve the issue or make the situation better, I confront her father about them. It occurred to me after reading this that I could be hurting her and causing her more problems by doing that because that just makes him mad and he may take it out on her- punish her or encourage her to keep secrets from me. I wonder if I just need to teach her coping skills and keep my mouth shut. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Does anyone want to share what they do (or dont do)?
